This should be quick

Ok so the project for today was to get the new ceiling fans installed... Sounds like a day should be enuff. Well maybe not. I started with the big one for the family room. Lots of working space ( No furniture yet ) only need a 4 ft ladder.Gather tools I think I will need and open box. First item I see is the instructions.... I am a guy so I skip these and move right on to un packing. Everything seems to be there, not that I would know as I did not read the instructions..... Ok next take old fixture off ceiling and discard it. ( was broken anyway ) next remove the plastic elec. box from ceiling without destroying the ceiling or making a Huge hole in said ceiling. well after 20 min of giving it a try I remember that if I went upstairs and looked I might be able to get at the box from above. So i run upstairs and go into attic space and yes looks like I can but in my hurry I did not bring anything to remove plywood covering the opening back down to garage for more tools. Back upstairs to try again remove one plywood piece and wow the elec. box is right there cool. Back down stairs for tools to remove elec. box and install fan box that will hold large fan without any problem. Back upstairs with more tools and new box. Remove old one, install new one go downstairs to see if in right spot, it is cool can start to install fan...Not yet, back upstairs for tools left there that I need for install. Now back on first floor ready to assemble fan.. Place mount on new box and temp hang fan on bracket. Find wire nuts for elec. hook up and wire up fan. Decided to test fan before complete assembly and see if I am doing good so far. Power on and hit switch .....Nadda. Well maybe the light needs to be on it for all items to work. ok no problem.. Complete assembly and the test again..... Still nadda. Check power yes switch is on and the tester says there is power there. Fan now weighs alot more and cant hag it from temp spot as before run to garage get 6 ft ladder to set fan on so I can find problem. Now 3 hrs into this game and still no clue what is wrong power there still now fan working . Ok removed fan and wire it up at diff loc and it works so Fan is not the problem. ( Must be Operator Error ) Next step is check power again and re install... Still no go.. Few choice words spoken here about the directions that were not needed and the fact that I still am clueless omn why no go.. Ok have Birthday party to attend will shower and go then attack this with fresh eyes later.. 2 Hrs later home again and now start at switch lets see black wire into switch red wire out of switch lets go look at fan..... Ok why is there no red wire in the box but there is one at switch hummmmm ok look closer at wires well that one kinda looks like dark whit but why did I not use that one ..... No clue. guess if I was not in such a hurry at start I might have looked at how it was wired at start huh... Well traded few wires around and after some Sparks from a ooops grounding and dropping a few tools from jumping off ladder from said sparks, lets try again........ Still nadda. HUMMMM O ya might work better if I turn switch on huh.. There Woooot Fan is on and working and its only 4 hrs of work later ... It spins and lights up so I did something right..

Sad thing is after all that I forgot one of the beauty rings and could not bring myself to remove all and put in on. LOL.

I did get second fan installed in one bed room and it only took 30 Mins to do. Funny paid Alot closer attention to how things came apart.

Maybe I can learn new tricks... Will see on Fan 3..
